RAYMOND ROGERS

Raymond Rogers, better known as Ray or Uncle Ray, is a Tour Manager, Production Manager, Audio Engineer, Producer, and Entrepreneur. Raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ray has always been influenced by music, playing drums and trumpet in school and church. After attending the University of Illinois to study Computer Science and Mathematics, Ray transferred to Columbia College Chicago (CCC) after a year and a half. He studied Live Sound Reinforcement/Sound Recording, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1999.

Ray is the founder and current CEO of Ray Andrew Designs (RAD). He began his professional career during his junior year at Columbia in 1997, doing live sound for a professor’s audio/backline company. While studying at Columbia and working as a shop tech, stage tech, monitor, and front of house engineer, Ray gained extensive experience with various Chicago audio and production companies. After graduating, he became a noted Chicago engineer, freelancing with local companies such as Direct Sound Audio (1997-Present), Sound of Authority (2000-2015), Regal Theatre/IATSE LOCAL 2 (2000-01), Direct Sound Advantage (2003-12), Salem Baptist Church of Chicago (2003-12), Burrell Communications Group (Eli Lilly’s F.A.C.E Diabetes Campaign 2007-08), and Prayer and Faith Ministries (2016-Present).

Ray started touring as a monitor engineer for the Los Angeles-based Hip Hop group Jurassic 5 in 2002. Over time, he became an essential component in a tour party, excelling as a Tour Manager and Production Manager, as well as mastering his positions as a Monitor and Front of House (FOH) engineer. Ray has toured with artists and groups such as Stephanie Mills, Quiet Water Entertainment (National Academy of Arts and Sciences), Moon Man Tours (Kid Cudi - Tour Manager, Production Manager, Monitor/FOH Engineer), Think Common Entertainment, The O’Jays, Hit-Boy, J. Cole Touring (Production Manager), Jurassic 5, and Syd.

In 2007, Ray became a Grammy Award-Winning Engineer with The Clark Sisters for the album "LIVE-ONE LAST TIME," which won Best Traditional Gospel Album. He is also noted for his engineering work on Rev. Gerald Thompson’s "Live in Chicago" album (1999), Donald Lawrence’s "The Law of Confession, PT. 1" album (2009), and many more.

Ray has appeared in Kid Cudi’s music video “Cudder Is Back,” on the cover of Dreamville’s "Revenge of The Dreamers 2" album, and in J. Cole’s five-part miniseries "HBO Forest Hills Drive." He is featured throughout the series and serves as the noted live sound engineer and mix engineer.

Currently, Ray continues to achieve more in his career and ventures, including his clothing company Ray Andrew Designs (RAD). He is also working on a book of poetry and producing/creating music for the underground scene.
