SIZWE “SIZ” BANZI
Sizwe “Siz” Banzi began his journey in the field of audio in 1998. He enrolled in Columbia College Chicago’s Audio Arts and Acoustics BA program. While still in school, Siz started working for a Chicago-based sound company, Direct Sound Audio as a stage tech and sound engineer on small systems. After graduating from Columbia in 2000, he landed a job with Sound of Authority (S.O.A.) as one of their main Audio Engineers. It’s worth noting that Sound of Authority was the largest black-owned sound company in the country at that time.
As a result of working for S.O.A. Siz was able to take advantage of numerous high-profile career opportunities. He’s been able to collaborate with countless sound companies, productions, and music venues across the Chicago Land area. Sizwe, also began working directly with artists and embarked on several major tours.
Sizwe Banzi continues to flourish and excel as a Live Sound Engineer and more importantly been privileged to work and tour with a variety of artists, such as Jurassic 5, The O'Jays, Kid Cudi, Avant, Ledisi, Eric Benét, Faith Evans, Stephanie Mills, Anthony Hamilton and Smino, just to name a few. In 2024 Sizwe Banzi was officially recognized by NARAS for his participation on J. Ivy Grammy Award Winning “ Catching Dreams“ Album.
